Hewing Beams by Hand Workshop

April 18-19, 2020

Fee: $200 includes one night accommodation and food

This workshop is a hands on program that teaches you how to mark and cut beams by hand, using traditional tools such as the axe, broad axe, and the adze. We will learn about layout, and then practice the technique of cutting square beams by hand using tools provided in the program.

This class is taught by Craig Boynton, of Bancroft Builders in Western Mass, and Ricardo Sierra, of Hawk Circle Timber Frames in Cherry Valley, New York.

We will also get to learn some basic blacksmithing, when Michael McCarthy shows us how to craft handmade log dogs, (used to secure the log being cut to the supports underneath), and participants may have an opportunity to do some blacksmithing work as well.

Timber Framing Intensive

April 20-24, 2020

Fee: $879 includes lodging and meals

This is a five day timber frame skills program that gives participants a hands-on experience cutting all the parts of a traditional timber frame.  We will work in our barn and outside, cutting and sawing and working together each day. Our days will also include time in the forest identifying trees, or studying different styles of timber frames and how they are built. On our last day is we will raise our cut frame and see it’s completion. The focus in this class is giving you the skills you need to design and cut your own frame, and have a great time with creative, fun people who care about the kinds of spaces we create for our families and our communities.

Developing Intuition and Animal Communication class is a one-and-a-half day class. From photos, you’ll learn to read animals that are living and crossed over. This class gives you all the basics of animal communication and teaches you to trust your inner voice. When you open up your intuition to animals they will notice and your relationships will grow. This class is limited to ten people. We all learn from each other and this is an eye-opening experience into animal communication and healing.

"Some of my more profound healing and heart-opening experiences has been when I've communicated with one of my pets.  They come into our lives to selflessly support us on our journey through life."  Trista Haggerty
