The Forest Family Retreat

Celebrating 30 Years of Service

 Summer Program:  July 24-26, 2019

Fall Program:  October 16-18, 2019

When I was a mom with three young children, there were a few important things that I had to have in my life.  The first was a community of other like-minded parents, the second, lots of time spent outdoors and third, mentors for my children that could see past their insecurities and struggles and see their brilliance.

I saw these three things as being absolutely necessary for me to raise children that would grow into adults with a sense of who they are, an understanding of their purpose in the world, self-confidence to create the lives they desired, and compassion and empathy for all living things.

In today's world, moms and dads are faced with so many more challenges, and having a community of people to support them and their children is even more crucial then it was years ago.

Our Forest Family Retreat with your kids will give YOU a chance to cultivate friendships with other like-minded moms and dads, that will last well beyond the days spent at the retreat.  You'll discover ways to help your children unplug and connect with the natural world, learn valuable skills and experiences that will support your family for years.  You'll return home feeling rejuvenated and inspired!

As a parent, your day will begin with a morning meditation and stretch helping you to relax, let go of all your worries while your child is having fu doing their own activity.

Later, you'll have the choice to learn a variety of "forest skills".  Learning how to care for your family with natural remedies and aromatherapy, make applesauce or jelly and canning techniques, camping skills and hunting skills, are all activities that you can participate in while your child is enjoying a hike or game with our staff.

Family Meals

You'll wake in the morning to the smell of fresh coffee brewing and herbal tea infusions as a healthy breakfast awaits your family.  All our meals are prepared in our farmhouse and are healthy and delicious using the freshest ingredients possible.  Homemade soups and breads, stews and fresh salads and of course, making smores around the campfire is always a favorite!  We are happy to accommodate food allergies and sensitivities, vegetarians and provide a gluten-free menu upon request.

Where will we sleep?

We have hand-built, timberframe cabins with bunk beds, located just at the edge of the woods.  We also have large, family tents for the ultimate camping experience.  If you prefer a cabin, please request it when you are registering.  They are available on a first to sign-up basis.  You are required to bring your own bedding(sleeping bag and pillow) which is listed on our equipment list that you'll receive as part of your registration packet.

Eagle House, our newly built classroom and bathhouse has bathrooms(one being handicapped accessible) with two outdoor showers with a spectacular view of the valley.

Your child will have fun going on stream walks, playing games and working on nature crafts while connecting with other kids in the program.

Most importantly, they'll have opportunities that foster a deep connection with nature, helping them to relax, feel confident, be inspiredget grounded and get a sense of their inner self(nature).

You'll also come together as families and learn shelter building, fire making and coal burning as you sit around an evening campfire listening to Hawk Circle stories and lore.

Itinerary subject to change due to weather, interest and time of year.
